SEPDM conference kicks off

Addis Ababa, March 18 (WIC) –The Southern Ethiopia Peoples’ Democratic Movement (SEPDM) Organizational Assembly kicked off on Monday in Hawassa town of the South Ethiopia Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ State.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, SEPDM Chairperson, Prime Minster Hailemariam Desalegn said SEPDM has worked for the people of the region to benefit from the region’s development.

The role of the people has been crucial in the economic growth registered in the region over the past nine years, Hailemariam said. The Chairperson also commended the efforts underway to realize the vision of the Great Leader, Meles Zenawi in the region.

Hailemariam also called up on members and supporters of the SEPDM to deliver their leadership role in the ongoing development endeavor to bring about all-round growth through organized development efforts.

Deputy Chairperson of SEPDM and Chief of the Region Shiferaw Shigute for his part said the conference is happening at a crucial time to realize the vision of the late Meles Zenawi. The conference is also taking place at a moment of peace and development, he said.

Shiferaw assured the commitment of people and government of the region to execute decisions of the conference.
On the occasion, various partner parties wished SEPDM a good success on its 8th conference. According to ERTA, Some 1200 participants are attending the conference.
