Ethiopia’s Premier League defending champion St. George defeated Djoliba of AC (Mali) 2-0 in the 1st leg of their CAF Champions League match played here today.
St. George’s efforts in the first 20 minutes resulted in Yonatan Berhane’s goal. Fitsum Gebremariam scored his team’s second goal.
The two teams will meet in Bamako for the return leg during the week of April 5-7.
Meanwhile, Dedebit FC, Ethiopia’s representative in the CAF Confederation Cup, came up short in Khartoum as they lost 1-0 in Khartoum to Al Ahly Shandy of Sudan.
Dedebit has a good chance of reversing the score and advance to the next round when the two teams will meet in Addis Ababa in two-week time. Mohammed Bashir was the scorer.
