Committee satisfies with 8th NNP Day preparations
Jijiga, March 12 (WIC) – The national committee in charge of the 8th Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and Peoples (NNP) Day celebration expressed ongoing preparation to successfully host the event.
The 8th Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Day would be celebrated in Somali Regional State on December 8, 2013.
After visiting guest houses, meeting hall, stadium and other infrastructure facilities being built in Jijiga town to successfully host the day, the committee held its first regular meeting here yesterday.
Speaker of the House of Federation (HoF), Kassa Tekleberhan, on the occasion said the ongoing preparations to successfully host the festivity are promising.
The celebration has a significant contribution in encouraging expansion of infrastructure facilities and social services besides promoting cultural exchange and unity among nations and nationalities of Ethiopia, he said.
The preparations being made by the regional state to exhibit the democratic success gained over the past 21 years and promote image of the state would make the celebration unique, he said.
Calling for the ongoing preparations to be further strengthened, Kassa, on behalf of the committee, pledged to provide the necessary support for the regional state.
Chief Administrator of the Somali Regional State, Abdi Mohammed Umer, on his part said residents and natives of the state living abroad are expressing their desire to rally along the government for the success of the event.
The regional state and the residents would give prime attention for the celebration as it is a good opportunity to promote the positive image of the state and unity of nations and nationalities of Ethiopia, he said.
According to Abdi, efforts would be exerted to make the celebration more colorfully by drawing valuable lessons from the previous 6th and 7th Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Day celebrations.
