Pres. Girma: Ethiopia enhances existing relation with Saudi Arabia
Addis Ababa, March 7 (WIC) - President Girma Woldegiorgis said Ethiopia is working to further boost the age old relation with Saudi Arabia.
While discussing with members of a medical team of Al-Basar International Foundation here Wednesday the President said a number of investors have engaged in various development activities here following efforts to strengthen the relation between Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia.
President Girma said Ethiopia has won recognition across the world in its successful activities to achieve the MDGs in the health sector.
He said the government will provide the necessary support to the foundation in its efforts to establish an eye treatment and training center here.
Foundation Board Member, Branch Manager Riyadh and Dubai in-charge sector of West Africa, Dr. Yassin A. Abdulghani on his part said the team is here for the 14th round and it has provided medical treatment to close to 70,000 Ethiopians in all regional states.
He said some 22,000 of the beneficiaries regained their sights while 20,000 others got access to eye glasses and medicines free of charge.
There is plan to establish an eye treatment and training center in Addis Ababa with nearly seven million USD, he said.
So far the foundation has built 25 similar centers in Asia and Africa.
Established in 1990, Al-Basar International Foundation is a non-profitable, non-political, international NGO, registered in many countries.(ENA)
