Hides, Skin products export earns $ 58 million
Addis Ababa, March 6, 2013 (WIC) - Ethiopia is growing its skin and hides business competitiveness in the global market to best utilize its potential. This is according to Ministry of Industry.
Two quarters of this fiscal year made 58 million dollar from skin and hides products.
The sector is increasingly growing in Ethiopia over the last couple of years. By the year 2010/11 skin and hides grew nearly by two fold earning 104.3 million dollar. The year 2011/12 made a 7.4 per cent hike, according to figures from the ministry.
The report says the increase is down to the role of private investors and government in the sector.
According to ERTA, the Chinese Wujiwan is such example in the private sector and soon New Wing, an international company is about to invest in the skin and hides sector convinced that Ethiopia provides best opportunities for investment.
