Ban Ki-moon to attend signing of Congo peace agreement in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, February 23 (WIC) - U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will arrive Ethiopia today to attend the signing of a peace agreement in Congo and will then visit the United Arab Emirates, Austria and Switzerland.

U.N. spokesman Martin Nesirky said Ban will attend Sunday's signing of a "Peace, Security and Cooperation Framework" agreement by 11 African nations.

Ban will meet government and other leaders in the United Arab Emirates on Monday and then head to Vienna where he will meet Austria's president on Tuesday, attend a forum of the U.N. Alliance of Civilizations on Wednesday, and meet other officials on Thursday Nesirky said.

He then heads to Geneva to attend a panel at the Human Rights Council and deliver a lecture Friday. (edmontonjournal.com)
