Dire Dawa confiscates contraband goods worth 43 mln birr

Dire Dawa, February 18 (WIC) – Revenues and Customs branch office confiscated 43 million birr worth contraband goods in the first half of the budget year.

Ferhan Ali, deputy general manager of the office, said the goods include packed cigarettes, medicines, clothing, electronic equipments and food items, among others.   

The goods were seized from Jijiga-Togochalle border, Eastern Harerge area, Bale Zone and Harar. Tips from public were instrumental in the confiscation, the deputy general manager said.   

Ferhan said in collaboration with federal police, the Dire Dawa police have beefed up control.
