Ethiopia, US to strengthen collaborative works on Horn affairs

Addis Ababa, January 31(WIC) -Ethiopia and the U.S here Wednesday confirmed to work in collaboration on issues related to the Horn of Africa and continental affairs.

Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn and the United States Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson confirmed that the two countries will work together in the efforts to maintain peace and security in Africa in particular in East Africa.

They said efforts will be exerted to improve the relation in particular between Sudan and South Sudan.
PM Hailemariam on the occasion briefed Carson that Ethiopia is finalizing preparations to host the 2013 African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Forum.

Carson on his part lauded Ethiopia's contribution to maintain peace and stability in neighboring countries in particular in Sudan and South Sudan.

The Assistant Secretary also appreciated efforts of the African Union to maintain peace and stability in Mali.
Diplomatic relation between Ethiopia and the U.S dates back to more than 100 years. (ERTA)
