Ministry: over 12.27 mln. ha land covered with seeds

Addis Ababa, January 30 (WIC) – Agriculture Minister Tefera Deribew said that over 12.27 million hectares of land has been covered with seeds this Ethiopian production season.

According to him, the area of land covered with seeds this season exceeds by 1.52 percent that of last year. There is plan to reap over 22.5 million tons main food crops.

Agricultural Affairs Standing Committee Chairperson, Mohammed Abdosh on the occasion said the ministry has undertaken encouraging activities in public mobilization and increase productivity, among others.

Mohammed urged the Ministry to undertake integrated activities in collaboration with stakeholders to enable women and youth benefit from modern agricultural technologies and find solution to market related problems, among others, in pastoral areas. (ENA)
