Ethiopia to set up Chemical Industry Corporation

Addis Ababa, December 31 (WIC) –Ministry of Council has ratified a directive to establish Chemical Industry Corporation which will oversee chemical industrial development in Ethiopia.

The Ethiopian Chemical Industry Corporation will be set up under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry (MoI).

Melaku Taye, Corporate Communications Directorate Director of MoI, told WIC that over 21.7 billion birr has been allocated to establish the corporation. So far, over 5.4 billion birr has been put to use to establish the new corporation, he said.

The corporation will be mandated to set up factories to produce fertilizers, rubber tree products, cements and other chemical products for domestic as well international market. It will also be mandated to conduct feasibility studies and designs works to establish new factories or expand existing ones.
