Addis Ababa, December 20 (WIC) –Over 103.7 million US dollars was obtained from manufacturing industry sector export during the past five months, according to the Ministry of Industry (MoI).
Ministry Public Relations Directorate Director, Melaku Taye, told WIC the stated sum was generated from the export of textile and garments, leather and leather products, agro-processing and pharmaceutical products.
The revenue secured in the reported period decreased by 19 million US dollars compared to the same period last budget year as a result of the current global economic crisis, he said.
According to Melaku, Ethiopia envisaged earning 542 million US dollars from the sector this budget year and raising it to 2.63 billion US dollars by the end of the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP).
