Industry ministry, subsidiary employees purchase 2nd round renaissance dam bonds

Addis Ababa, December 6 (WIC) – Employees of Ministry of Industry and its subsidiaries pledged their one month salary for the purchase of renaissance bonds for the second year in a raw.

The employees made the pledge this week while commemorating the seventh nations, nationalities and peoples’ day during a ceremony held at the Ministry here in Addis Ababa.

The pledge, which is deductible from employees’ monthly salary for a year, goes for the construction of the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

Employees expressed satisfaction for having the opportunity to put their print in the construction of Africa’s biggest hydroelectric power, which will have the capacity to generate 6,000 megawatts when completed.

Mekonnen Manyazewal, minister of industry, handed employees bond certificates for last year’s bond purchase.

The ministry’s subsidiaries include Ethiopian Investment Agency, Privatization and Public Enterprises Supervising Agency, Metal Industry Development Institute, Textile Industry Development Institute, Ethiopian Kaizen Institute, Leather Industry Development Institute.
