ERCA collects over 22 bln birr

Addis Ababa, November 26 (WIC) –The Ethiopian Revenues and Customs Authority (ERCA) said it has collected 22.2 billion birr in the first quarter of this budget year.

Authority Education and Communications Directorate Director, Ephrem Mekonnen, told WIC the revenue was collected from direct and indirect taxes, national lottery administration, nontax and other sources.

According to Ephrem, the authority managed to attain 103.57 per cent of its target plan.

The revenue also exceeded by 38.53 per cent compared to the same period the previous budget year, he indicated.

The proficient services provided by the authority and increasing awareness of taxpayers, among others contributed for the raise in revenue, Ephrem said.
According to the director, the authority distributed 6,518 sales register machine for 5,516 taxpayers in the first quarter of this budget year.
