House calls for strengthened efforts to address housing needs
Addis Ababa, November 10, 2012 (WIC) ¬- The House of People’s Representatives has called for strengthened efforts towards addressing the housing needs of middle and low income earning urban dwellers.
Urban Development and Construction Affairs Standing Committee of the House made the call on Friday after examining the 2005 E.C. budget year plan of the Ministry of Urban Development and Construction and those of other institutions under the auspices of the Ministry.
Minister of Urban Development and Construction, Mekuria Haile who presented the plan to the MPs also addressed various queries forwarded by them.
As to the rumors that have been going on regarding the government’s low-cost housing scheme, he said the tale was premature. He said the government has been working tirelessly on the matter and is currently finalizing preparations to undertake registration.
Chair of the Urban Development and Construction Affairs Standing Committee of the House, Atsbeha Aregawi lauded the Ministry over its remarkable achievements and called on it to strengthen efforts towards addressing the housing needs of middle and low income earning urban dwellers.
