Ashegoda Wind Power project to generate 120 MW

Addis Ababa, September 19, 2012 (WIC) - Ashegoda Wind Power project launched in Tigray State with capacity of 120 MW at a cost of 210 Euros will fully begin operation in the coming March.

Project Mechanical Engineer Solomon Yisema told ENA that government is constructing wind power project in the state and Adama localities.

He said currently the project can generate some 90 MW while the remaining capacity to be completed in the coming March. Solomon said the single turbine can generate 1.67 MW.

According to ENA, the project is situated 28 km away from Mekelle town. It is financed by the French bank BNP Paribas through soft loan amounting to 210 million euro facilitated by the Agence France de Development.
