Council says voters' registration underway

Addis Ababa, September 17 (WIC) - Registration of voters is underway since last Thursday in nine regional states and two city administrations in the country for the upcoming election of members of Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council to be held on 7 Oct. 2012.

The Ethiopian Ulema Fatwa and Da'awa Council told ENA on Saturday that the registration process will be carried out until 22 Sept.2012.

The Council called on followers of the Islamic religion above the age of 18 years to get registered at polling stations set up in all woredas of the Addis Ababa City administration, at polling stations set up in different localities of the nine regions and in Dire Dawa City Council.

It also urged the faithful to contribute their share towards making the election free and credible.
