Nation preparing to mark 7th NNPD colorfully
Addis Ababa, August 16 (WIC) – Preparations are underway to colorfully mark the 7th Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and People’s Day (NNPD) in Bahir Dar town, Amhara Regional State, according to the House of Federation (HoF).
Speaker of HoF, Kassa Tekleberhan, told journalist here yesterday all the necessary preparations are going well to celebrate the Day under the theme, “Our Constitution for Our Renaissance.”
Committee and sub-committee were established at federal and regional level to make this year’s celebration more colorful and unique, he said.
He said the Day would be marked at kebele levels and in schools as well as in Ethiopian embassies abroad through panel discussions and symposiums.
Various research papers that could be used as an input for further study will also be presented at the celebration, he said.
According to Kassa, the celebration would contribute a lot in strengthening unity and equality of nations and nationalities of Ethiopia.
It also helps raise awareness of the public on the Constitution and create public drive for the attainment of the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP).
Speaker of the Amhara Regional State Council, Yalew Abate, on his part said the regional state has been making preparations to successfully host this year’s celebration.
Efforts are being made to fulfill the necessary facilities that accommodate all the over 3,000 people expected to attend the celebration, he said.
