Germany provides 27 mln Euros in donation to AUC

Addis Ababa, August 10 (WIC)-The government of Germany provided 27 million Euros in donation to the African Union Commission (AUC).

According to a statement issued by AU on Wednesday, the donation is meant for construction of the new AU Peace and Security building.

Counselor at the German Embassy to Ethiopia, Irene Biontino on the occasion stressed the existing close cooperation between the AU and Germany.

She also underlined that the Peace and Security Building is one of the most demanding project of the German cooperation with the AU.

Director of the AU Peace and Security Department, El Ghassim Wane on his part expressed on behalf of the Commission's leadership, AU's gratitude to the German government for its generous donation.

Completion of the building, early next year, will enhance AU's capacity to meet the challenges of peace and security on the continent, he said.
