Over 22,000 private organizations embraced in social security scheme: Agency
Addis Ababa, August 6 (WIC) - Private Organization Employees Social Security Agency said more than 22,000 private organizations embraced in the social security scheme.
Agency Public Relation and Communication Director Tesfaye Gashawe told ENA that the agency has so far collected more than 550 million birr.
The Director said private employers who have more than 250,000 employees have been registered over the last one year.
He said the Agency has opened 28 branches offices at federal and regional level to expand its accessibility.
He said the social security scheme would be secured when the workers get old, encountered health problems or work places and accidents.
The program promotes healthy relationship between employees and employers by ensuring industrial security and benefits survivors from the scheme, he said.
The Director said the agency is working closely with the Ethiopia Employers Federation, and Confederation for the Federation of Labor Union and other pertinent organizations.
Tesfaye said the agency has planned to register 152, 000 employees and targeted to reach one billion birr fund in their Ethiopian fiscal year.
The nation has been offering social security service only to civil servants, defense and police over the past 50 years, he said, and adding government has put in place security scheme that would benefits employees of private organizations.
