Gambella State collects over 113 mln birr revenue
Addis Ababa, July 26 (WIC) – The Gambella Regional State Revenues Administration Authority said it has collected over 113.5 million birr in the just concluded budget year.
Authority Director General, Weynato Abera, said the revenue was collected from direct and indirect tax revenues.
The income collected this budget year exceeded by 42 million birr compared to the previous year though it fell short of the 159 million birr target for the budget year, he said.
Weynato attributed the rise in revenue this budget year exceeded to the increasing investment and trade activities in the state.
Chief Administrator of the Gambella State, Umod Ubong, on his part underscored the need to stop rent-seeking mentality during tax collection.
“In order to alleviate problems with tax collection and bring about accountability, we need to fight against rent-seeking mentality and make structural reform,” he said.
Umod finally called on all sectoral office to do with their full capacity for the successful attainment of the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP).
