Individuals operating to undertake rebellion arrested: Federal Police
Addis Ababa, July 26, 2012 (WIC) - The Federal Police Commission of Ethiopia has said it has arrested some individuals who have been operating to carry out terror acts in Addis Ababa and some regional states under the disguise of religion.
In a press briefing he gave on Wednesday, Director General of the Commission, Workneh Gebeyehu said extremists organized to undertake rebellion are separated from the Muslim community and are put under control as per the arrest warrant from the court.
Particularly, individuals who were leading the rebellion recently witnessed in Addis Ababa from the back have political agenda and are working in cooperation, he said.
The Director General stated that there are evidences showing involvement of foreign forces in the rebellion acts witnessed. He said the suspects would be presented to court as soon as police investigation is finalized.
According to ENA, Workneh said the Federal Police has been following these illegal acts cautiously and with great responsibility. He also called upon the public to continue its support to police in preventing crime.
