House aims to perform better in 2005 EC: Speaker
Addis Ababa, July 24 (WIC) - Speaker of the House of Peoples Representatives (HPR), Abadulla Gemeda, said it is preparing to carry out successful activities in this Ethiopian budget year.
In a press conference he gave here on Monday in connection with the 2004 EC performance, Abadulla said executive bodies have publicized their planned activities.
He said informed preparation enables the House undertake fruitful activities in this budget year.
According to him, the House is undertaking various activities and putting in place new implementation system to reduce work duplication.
The Speaker said the House has endorsed 137 billion birr national budget for 2005 EC, ratified close to 147 proclamations and heard performance reports in the just concluded budget year.
Abadulla said Ethiopia has successfully hosted the Pan-African Parliamentary Union assembly in the just concluded budget year.
He said the event has created an opportunity to inform the participants about the current situation of Ethiopia.
The House has organized capacity building programs and discussion forums that would enable to speed up the implementation of the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), he said.
Abadulla said the House examined the reports and evaluated the working procedures of the executive organs in the reported period. (ENA)
