MoFA refers Diaspora Policy to Council of Ministers for final approval
Addis Ababa, July 5 (WIC) – The Diaspora Policy document, which Ethiopia devised to boost the development contribution and maintain benefits of Ethiopian Diaspora, was referred to the Council of Ministers for final approval, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
Public Diplomacy and Communication Director General with MoFA, Getachew Reda, told WIC the document was sent council after adding the inputs gained from the consultation held with Ethiopian Diaspora.
He said higher officials and broad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) also thoroughly discussed the policy before being sent to the Council of Ministers.
According to Getachew, the new policy was prepared with a view to enhancing the development participation of Ethiopian Diaspora in their country of origin.
Moreover, the policy would have a significant contribution in resolving the challenges that Ethiopian Diaspora face while investing in their homeland, he said.
The development participation of Ethiopian Diaspora and their contribution for the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam in particular is encouraging, he said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) is doing its level best to further consolidate the development contribution of Ethiopian Diaspora in their country of origin.
