Administration distributes 301,000 mt of grain in 11 months
Addis Ababa, June 15 (WIC) – The Ethiopian Emergency Food Security Reserve Administration (EFSRA) said it has distributed 301,000 metric tonnes of grain on loan during the past 11months.
Administration Acting Public Relations Head, Gizaw Abote, told journalists here today that the stated volume of grain was granted for emergency aid, safety-net and market stabilization programs.
He said WFP took 75, 643 metric tonnes, while Ethiopian Trade Enterprise and the Ministry of Agriculture received 42,703 metric tonnes and 183, 509 metric tonnes, respectively to stabilize market and for emergency aid and safety net programs.
During the reported period, the administration also managed to reimburse 263,742 metric tonnes of grain from clients previously disbursed for similar purposes, he said.
He added efforts would be made to raise the reimbursement to 320,000 metric tonnes so as to increase nation’s emergency food reserve.
