State nurtures over 47 mln tree seedlings

Addis Ababa  June 12 , 2012 (WIC) -More than 47 million various tree seedlings including low land bamboo are prepared for transplantation in Benishangul Gumuz regional state, the regional agriculture and rural development bureau said.

Natural resource conservation and utilization work process owner with the bureau, Kefale Ademe told ENA that 24 million of the total seedlings are bamboo plants.

Kefale also said seedlings of different fruits have been prepared for transplantation on depleted areas in the state.

Awareness of the public to conserve natural resources has been growing from time to time, he said.

Kefale called on the public to actively participate in the seedling transplantation activity , which will take place as of mid June 2012.

A farmer in Assosa Woreda , Lubaba Hassen on her part said soil and water conservation is well underway in the area.

According to ENA, Lubaba said that she has prepared more than 200 bamboo seedlings for transplantation.
