Addis Ababa, June 3 (WIC) - The Federal Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (FEACC) said it has registered the assets of 19,208 government officials and civil servants between July 2011 and March 2012.

Commission’s Ethical Education and Communication Affairs Director, Berhanu Assefa told WIC the asset registration would help prevent corruption and build trust between government and the public.

He said the registration of properties of government officials and employees is based on the wealth registration proclamation approved by Parliament on 30 March 2010.

According to the director, the registration process was officially launched by recording the assets of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.

With a view to expanding ethics and anti-corruption education the Commission also provided anti-corruption trainings for 18, 690 people, he indicated.

The Commission has been working in partnership with stakeholders to combat corruption and malpractice, Berhanu added.
