Over 515m Birr concrete asphalt road inaugurated

Addis Ababa, June 2, 2012 (WIC) - A concrete asphalt road constructed in South Ethiopia Peoples' State with over 515 million Birr was inaugurated on Wednesday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Hailemariam Desalegn inaugurated the Halaba-Humbo road constructed with the budget allocated by the government.

Hailemariam on the occasion said the government has given prime attention to road sector development in the ongoing efforts to reduce poverty.

He said the road contributes to improving the livelihood of the public in the area.

According to ERTA, State Chief, Shiferaw Shigute for his part said construction of roads undertaken during the past couple of years helped speed up development and expand investment.

Meanwhile, a 10 km asphalt road constructed in Soddo town of the state at a cost of 60 million Birr has also been inaugurated.
