Electric power expansion projects underway in Gambella

Gambella, May 8 (WIC) - Electric power supply expansion projects are underway in Gambella State to enable the public get access to a 24 hour service, the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo) said.

Gambella region marketing and sales officer with the Corporation, Sebagadis Birahane told ENA over the weekend that installation of electric transformers with a capacity of 230 kilo volt is underway as part of the project.

Upon going fully operational by the coming 20 months, the project will enable Gambella town, all zones, woredas and rural towns in the state to benefit from round- the -clock electric service.

Similarly, the Corporation has managed to increase the capacity of the power distribution centers to 12-mw from the previous 1-mw capacity, he said.

Residents of the town, Mebrat Bisirat, Dereje Lemma and Umod Uman on their parts said that electric power supply is getting improved in the town since last month.
