University begins rendering service

Addis Ababa, April 30 (WIC) – The Addis Ababa Science and Technology University being built in Akaki-Kaliti sub city has begun rendering service following the completion of construction of the first phase.

The university has already enrolled some 2,000 students, it was indicated.

The construction of the university, which was launched on 150 hectares of land last Ethiopian fiscal year, is a-five year project. It has so far consumed 743 million birr.

Construction of the second stage is now 83 percent complete and upon completion, it will raise the enrollment capacity of the university to 7,000 students.

The construction works generated more than 2,000 people.

When completed, the five-year project will have the capacity to enroll 30,000 students, it was learnt.
