EPRDF Executive Committee concludes regular meeting
Addis Ababa, April 22 (WIC) - The Executive Committee of the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) concluded its regular meeting late Saturday after passing various decisions.
According to Ethiopian Radio and Radio Agency, during its meeting, the Committee reviewed performance of various development plans over the last nine months.
The Executive Committee commended the development works carried out in Amhara, Tigray, Oromia and South Ethiopia Peoples’ states during the winter season with popular participation.
It lauded the concerted efforts taken over the stated period to expand irrigation schemes which it described as fruitful.
The Executive Committee also probed ongoing preparations for development works during the upcoming rainy season.
According to the Committee, supply and distribution of inputs has been done well for development activities to be undertaken in the upcoming rainy season.
In connection with environmental conservation activities, the Committee stressed the need to scale up the soil and water conservation works done during the winter season.
It also urged concerned bodies to follow up closely proper implementation of planned environmental conservation activities in the upcoming season.
The Executive Committee also appraised urban development, job creation, land management, construction and good governance works done by regions.
Based on the appraisal, the Committee came up with directions that would help ensure the sustainability of best performances.
The Committee stressed the need to strengthen ongoing efforts to replacing rent-seeking tendencies by developmental ones.
The Committee decided that ongoing low-cost housing activities would be continued in a strengthened manner.
The Committee underscored the importance of capitalizing on best practices and drawing lessons from drawbacks for even better achievements in the future.
