Assela- Dodola-Goba asphalt road opened for traffic
Addis Ababa, April 14, 2012 (WIC) - Assela- Dodola-Goba 247 km concrete asphalt constructed at a cost of 1.2 billion birr opened for traffic, the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) said.
Authority communication Director Samson Wondimu told ENA that the road was constructed by the CGC Sino Hydro, a Chinese company while the supervision was made by the Transport, and Construction Design Enterprise.
The road was constructed in two projects includes Asella –Dodola 117km and Dodola-Goba 130 km.
The road would enhance the interaction in Bale and Arusi zones since they are productive areas. It would help further enhance the agricultures activities in the area.
He said the road would ease the transportation to Dinisho and Bale Mountains National Parks.
Bale Zone Chief Administrator, Sisay Hurissa on his part said the road would help the zone to benefit from the agriculture and immense natural resource.
According to ENA, some residents of Bale and Arussi zones on their part vowed to take part actively in the ongoing development activities through their labor, knowledge and finance.
Government and World Bank covered the construction cost of the road project.
