Adama, March 20 (WIC) –Construction of over 23,000 condos is underway with an outlay over 2.1 billion birr in Oromia state, state’s works and urban development bureau said.
Bureau head, Tekeletsadik Reba told WIC that the bureau has set plans to construct 66,000 condos in a bid to reduce the housing problem in the state by fifty percent. Some 3,551 condos have been already transferred to beneficiaries so far, Tekeletsadik said and added that the bureau has collected 70 million birr as down payment for the condos being constructed. The bureau has reduced the advance payment to 10 percent taking the rising cost of living in to consideration, the head said. The state has allocated 2.1 billion of the budget needed for the construction work, Tekeletsadik said. The bureau has also finalized preparations to begin construction of 43,000 additional condos, according to the head. |
