Nation secures over 622 mln USD from export sector in half year

Addis Ababa, February 20 (WIC) - The Ministry of Trade and Industry announced that the nation has secured 622.6 million USD from the export sector over the last six months.
Information and public relations head with the Ministry, Hailu Abebe told WIC that the revenue was earned from 34 various sectors including textile, leather and leather products, agro-processing among others. The revenue obtained in the half year surpasses that of same period of last year by 73.6 million USD, Hailu said. Some 30.2 million USD of the revenue was earned from coffee export. Most of Ethiopian products were exported to Europe, USA, Asia and Africa countries. Plans have been set to obtain 2.5 billion USD from the export sector this budget year, according to the head. The Ministry awarded more than 50 individual exporters and organizations that registered remarkable result in the export sectors, he recalled. |
