Tuesday, 16 February 2010

Addis Ababa
, February 16 (WIC) - Ethiopia sent late on Monday five air force helicopters to the UN-AU Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) deployed in Sudan to support peace making efforts in the troubled Darfur region.

According to the APA, Ethiopia was among countries in the world that pledged to contribute troops and military equipments for the hybrid force in Darfur.

Ethiopian Defense Ministry said that the five helicopters are meant to support the ongoing peacemaking efforts in the troubled region, which remains a concern for the international community.

Ethiopia a few months ago also deployed hundreds of troops for the hybrid force.

Currently, there are over 10,000 peacekeeping forces under the hybrid mission deployed to support peace making efforts in the region.
