Over 1.2 mln voters registered in Arsi zone

Adama, February 8 (WIC) – More than 1.2 million voters, including 483,840 women, have been registered in Arsi zone of the Oromia state for the forthcoming national elections, zone election board coordination office said.
Office Coordinator, Ahmed Abdulahi, told WIC the electorates were registered at 1,368 polling stations established in the zone. He said 98 per cent of the eligible voters in the zone have so far collected voters’ IDs. More than 1.4 million voters are expected to register in the zone. He further said 10 political parties have fielded 98 candidates that contest for State Council and Parliament. One private candidate also registered to run for the Parliament. |
