Over 3 mln voters registered in 3 zones PDF Print E-mail

Addis Ababa, February 4 (WIC) – More than 3 million voters have been registered in Arsi, east Hararge and Jimma zones of the Oromia state for the upcoming national elections, according to respective zonal election board offices. 

 

Arsi Zone Election Board Office Coordinator, Ahmed Abdulahi, told WIC that close to one million voters have been registered in the zone for the upcoming national elections

 

He said the voters were registered at 1, 368 polling stations established in the zone. Some 468, 409 of the voters were women.

 

According to Ahmed, more than 1.2 million voters are expected to register in the zone.

 

He added 9 political parties have also fielded 74 candidates that contest for seats in the State Council and the Parliament.

 

Meanwhile, more than one million voters have so far secured voters’ IDs in Jimma zone, according to zone election board office coordinator, Awetahegn Kidanemariam.

In a related development, more than one million voters have been registered in east Hararge zone for the upcoming national elections, zone election office coordinator, Mesfin Zenebe, said.

He said the electorates were registered at 1, 538 polling stations established in the zone.
