GCAO vows to strengthen mass media industry, fill information gap

 Addis Ababa, February 2 (WIC) - Government Communication Affairs Office (GCAO) Minister, Bereket Simon, said the government would continue to further enhance the development participation of the society through strengthening the mass media industry and filling the information gap.
The minister said the efforts launched by the government to boost the direct involvement of the public in the development and good image building activities of the country will be consolidated through bridging information gap and bolstering the free flow of information. Bereket was speaking at a discussion forum organized in connection with the 15th founding anniversary of Radio Fana Share Company. He said GCAO in partnership with mass media existed in the country has carried out a number of activities aimed at improving the sector and Radio Fana’s success is the direct results of the efforts undertaken over the past years. Radio Fana is committed to bring new ideas, he said, adding it would contribute its share for a sustainable development through sensitizing the public about the ongoing peace, democracy and development endeavors and help them bring about behavioral change. Radio Fana Share Company General Manager, Woldu Yimesel, on his part said coordinated and joint efforts of stakeholders are vital to create an information rich society and a better country. Woldu further urged organizations and stakeholders to continue forward in supporting the company. |
