Addis Ababa, February 20, 2012 (WIC) – The 37th founding anniversary of Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) marked on Sunday, February 19, 2012.
The Central Committee of TPLF, in its statement, said the people of Tigray along with Ethiopian Democratic forces, has victoriously concluded the severe struggle undertaken against the military Derg Regime.
The statement also noted the first chapter of the struggle for peace, development and democracy was concluded by overthrowing the Derg regime.
The victory was achieved as a result of the dedications and sacrifices of its members and the general public who had been implementing the principles of the Front, according to the statement.
The Central Committee of TPLF called on its members and the people of Tigray to further reinforce the ongoing anti-poverty struggle.
The statement also indicated that after the removal of the anti-development and anti-democracy regime, building a united nation based on mutual understanding and equality with successive economic development.
TPLF ascertained to stand firm and work hard with the people of Ethiopia to achieve the five years’ Growth and Transformation Plan, according the statement noted.
