Ethio-Sudan relation said vital to bring peace, development in Horn of Africa PDF Print E-mail

Mekelle, December 29 (WIC) – Chief Administrator of the Tigray State, Tsegay Berhe, said the existing Ethio-Sudan ties have immense benefits not only for the two countries but also to the Horn of Africa. 

 

 

He said the efforts being made by the two countries to bring durable peace and expedite economic integration will have a pivotal role for the entire East African region.

 

 

 

 

 Tsegay was speaking at the opening of the 12th Ethio-Sudanese Development and Boundary Commission meeting.   

 

He said concerted efforts are underway to further scale-up cooperation on various development sectors and consolidate people to people relations of the two countries.

 

  

He said the meeting will evaluate the performance on implementation of agreements reached at the 11th meeting held in Sudan and set new strategies that maintain interests of the two countries.

 

  

Sudanese Delegation Team Leader, General Salah Abdela, on his part said the relation between the two countries is getting stronger from time to time.  

 

  

He said the effort being made by the Ethiopian government to alleviate poverty and accelerate development is commendable.

 

  

He further hailed Ethiopia’s efforts in solving Darfur problems through deploying peacekeepers. 

 

  

He said the joint meeting will help to further consolidate mutual collaboration on development and security.

 

  

The meeting today deliberated on political issues, culture and tourism, sport, agriculture and health sectors.

 

 

  Participants of the meeting will pay a visit to historic places in Mekelle town and its environs tomorrow.
