Mekelle, December 25 (WIC) - Vice Academic President of the Mekelle University, Dr Kindeya Gebrehiwot, said the African Union, IGAD and Ethiopian government have played a key role on the sanctions by UN Security Council against Eritrea.
Dr Kindeya told WIC yesterday that the reports submitted by AU, IGAD and Ethiopia to UNSC exposing Eritrean government’s destructive role in the region contributed a lot on the sanction imposed on Eritrea. He said the sanction was the result of the Eritrean government’s destabilization missions in Somalia, Djibouti and Ethiopia. According to Dr Kindeya, the sanction would limit the Eritrean government’s interference and destructive activities in the East African region. The UNSC has imposed sanctions on Eritrea because of aid it has been giving to al-Shabab in Somalia and a border dispute with Djibouti. |
