Quarantine exports over 26,000 metric tonnes agricultural produce PDF Print E-mail

Adama, November 26 (WIC) – The Nazareth Plant Quarantine with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MoARD) has reportedly exported 26, 493 metric tonnes of agricultural produces in the first quarter of this budget year.

 

Quarantine Coordinator, Teklu Bayissa, told WIC today that the stated volume of produces was exported through more than 50 exporter enterprises.   

 

Sesame, haricot bean, cotton, chickpeas, fruits and vegetables as well as animal feed were among the items exported in the reported period, he said.   

 

The agricultural produces were exported mainly to Europe, Far and Middle East as well as African countries, he said.       

 

The quarantine envisages exporting 96,635 metric tonnes of agricultural produces this budget year, it was learnt.
