The Sudanese cultural troupe which also comprises of a senior medical team and TV crew arrived in Ethiopia last week for the first time in land transport.

The group has staged musical and dance performance that reflect traditions of Sudan in the towns of Metema, Bahirdar, Gondor, and Gohatsion.Today the group will begin a week-long show in the capital, Addis Ababa.

On Wednesday, the group paid tribute to the late Ethiopian singer Tilahun Gesesse at his home. On the occasion, group leader, Yasir Temtam expressed heart felt sorrow on behalf of his team and all Sudanese artists to families of Tilahun.

Temtam said that Sudanese have great respect and high regard to the legendary singer. He added that his works would always remain remembered in the hearts of his people. Tilahun is considered as the father of modern music in Ethiopia. The vocalist died last April at the age of 68, after staying in the works of Ethiopia music for half a century.

A medical team of the envoy on its side has delivered a free medical care to Ethiopians in the towns it stopped. A number of journalists within the group are also said to play an important role in promoting positive images of the country to the outside world.

In a similar move, an Ethiopian cultural troupe will be traveling to Sudan in land transport; soon after the Sudanese team is done with its show here in Ethiopia.

Ethiopia and Sudan have a number of cooperation agreements. Among others - in trade, culture, security, capacity building and road. The latest trip paid by the Sudanese group is also based on signed agreement between governments of Sudan and Ethiopia to boost people to people relations and cultural ties of the two neighboring brotherly people.
