Meles urges youth to have clear understanding of agreed election code of conduct PDF Print E-mail

Addis Ababa, November 21 (WIC) – Prime Minister Meles Zenawi on Saturday called on the youth to have clear understanding of the election code of conduct and its implementation guideline signed recently among the four political parties.  

 

Speaking at the third youth conference held here today, Meles said the youth need to know the accord clearly so as not to be weapons for some political parties operating out of the agreement and looking for violence.  

 

The Premier responded to questions related to unemployment, micro and small scale enterprises, micro finance institutions, election, education quality, recreation centers and climate change, among others.   

 

Meles said the youth need to organize themselves and create jobs so as to alleviate their social, political and economic problems and the government in its part will take the necessary measures to ensure the benefit of the youth.   

 

Concerning raised question with the upcoming election, Meles said the youth need to discharge their shares so as to make the upcoming election a success.    

 

Youth and Sports Minister, Aster Mamo, on her part said the youth have the responsibility to eliminate poverty and backwardness as well as bring about democracy in the country.    

 

Ethiopian Youth Federation President, Teferi Beyene, on the occasion urged the youth to get organized and strive for the economic growth of the country. 

   

The discussion attracted more than 10,000 youth drawn from across the nation, it was learnt.
