Addis Ababa, November 18, 2009 - Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said Ethiopia will further strengthen development activities it has been undertaking in collaboration with the United Nations World Food Program (WFP).

Meles said the government is desirous to cooperate with WFP in its development activities being carried out in Ethiopia.

The Premier made the statement here on Wednesday during talks with the former Ghanaian President John Kufor. Kufor has been named a Global Ambassador against Hunger for the WFP.

Meles said the government has been undertaking activities to restore depleted areas through mobilizing the public side by side with supplying food aid in particular in pastoral areas.

Kufor on his part said he witnessed that WFP has been undertaking encouraging activities in Ethiopia.

He said the rural development policy put in place by the government significantly contributed to ongoing development activities in the country.

Kufor said WFP will further strengthen projects aimed at restoring depleted areas and school feeding programs, according to a senior government official.
