Diredawa, November 18 (WIC) – More than 30,000 children and mothers in Diredawa administration have benefited from urban and rural health development program in the first quarter of this budget year, administration health bureau said.

Bureau Plan and Program Service Head, Abdela Aliye, told WIC today that family planning, delivery service and vaccination were among the health services given to the children and mothers.

He said family planning, prenatal and delivery services were given to more than 23, 000 mothers so as to reduce death related to pregnancy.   He further said that vaccination against tuberculosis and other diseases was given to 7, 519 children.

The number of children and mothers who got service during the reported period exceeds that of same period last budget year by 10, 000, Abdela indicated.

He attributed the increase in number to the awareness raising education given by health professionals and expansion of health centers.
