Over 26,000 people undergo VCT for HIV PDF Print E-mail

Diredawa, November 17 (WIC) – More than 26,000 people have undergone voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) for HIV in Diredawa administration in the first quarter of the budget year, administration HIV/AIDS prevention and control office said. 

Office Evaluation Officer, Desta Moges, told WIC today that the virus detected in 724 persons of the above mention people underwent VCT service.   

He said the people got the service in 4 government and private hospitals, 13 health centers, family planning and Mary stops health centers.   

The number of people who underwent VCT during the reported period exceeds that of same period last budget year by 1, 474, he said.   

According to Desta, beneficiaries of anti-retroviral drugs in the administration have reached to 2,970.
