Region installs over 75 km optical fiber

Adama, November 12 (WIC) – The South Eastern Region of the Ethiopian Telecommunication Corporation (ETC) said it has finalized installation of over 75 km optical fiber so as to provide quality telephone service to the community.
Region General Manager, Sisay Bekele, told WIC that of the projects underway since the past two years, the Eteya-Arsi Robe optical fiber installation has been finalized. He said 91 kms of the 128 kms Dodolla- Goba optical fiber installation has so far been completed. Sisay said activities are also underway to provide wireless telephone service to more than 10 rural towns including Batu, Sodere, Wonji Gefersa, Meki and Goba towns. The region is replacing existing copper cable with optical fiber so as to alleviate the mobile phone network problems being witnessed in some areas, he added. He further indicated that efforts are being made to provide mobile telephone service to 63 towns, he noted. |
