Zone to reap 14.2 mln quintals produce PDF Print E-mail

Dessie,  November 4 (WIC) – More than 14.2 million quintals of produce will be collected from north Shoa zone of the Amhara state this harvest season, zone agriculture and rural development department said.  

 

Department Head, Dr Demeke Atilaw, told WIC today that the stated volume of produce will be collected from 41, 352 hectares of land developed by half a million farmers in 24 woredas of the zone.   

 

Dr Demeke said the farmers developed cereal crops, pulses, oil seeds and spices on the stated size of land by utilizing over 3 million cubic meters of fertilizer.   

 

According to Dr Demeke, the volume of produce to be reaped in the reported period is greater than that of the preceding harvest season by more than 4 million quintals.  

 

Activities are also underway to reap more than 7 million quintals of produce from irrigation development.
