  Dr. Abera Deresa

Addis Ababa, November 3 (WIC) – Agriculture and Rural Development State Minister, Dr Abera Deressa, said all youth need to voice their concern at the climate change conference to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark next month.

Dr Abera said at a panel discussion held here under the theme: "The interest of African and European youth in addressing the problem of climate change," that the youth in particular should express their interest at the Copenhagen conference since they are direct victims of the current climate change.

Even though African countries have minimal contribution to the current climate change, they are suffering from the impact of the climate change.

Dr Abera said African and European youth therefore need to put pressure at international forums so as to protect the damaging effects of the current climate change.

European Youth Forum Secretary General, Giuseppe Porcaro, said on the occasion that youth around the world should join hands in the fight against climate change.

African Climate Ambassador, Anthony Gitonga, said countries need to pay due attention to climate changes similar to that of HIV/AIDS prevention.

Gitonga added the youth need to take the forefront role in the fight against climate change so as to save the future generation.

Youth drawn from African and European countries and invited guests attended the conference.
