Serbia working to enhance historical ties with Ethiopia PDF Print E-mail

Addis Ababa, October 23 (WIC) – The newly appointed Serbian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Dragan Momcilovic, said his country is working to enhance the age long economic, political and social relations of the two countries.

 

In an exclusive interview with WIC on Wednesday, Ambassador Momcilovic, said Serbian government is striving to restore the historical ties with Ethiopia.   

 

The Ambassador said his country is exerting utmost efforts to furbish the strong and multifaceted Ethio-Serbia cooperation in education, agriculture and infrastructure development sectors.   

 

Speaking about the economic growth Ethiopia has registered over the past successive years, Ambassador Momcilovic, said it is the direct results of country’s effort to curb inflation and cope the economic crises.   

 

The Ambassador said the country is registering tangible results particularly in infrastructure development, agriculture, health and education sectors.   

 

According to Ambassador Momcilovic, trade and investment are also the areas to be strongly restored this year.   

 

Coffee, spices, flowers are the main commodities Ethiopia is exporting to Serbia, while Serbia is exporting telecommunication equipment to Ethiopia, the Ambassador said.   

 

The Serbian government has a plan to offer scholarship to Ethiopian students in Medicine and Telecommunication fields of study so as to restore the age long Ethio-Serbia cooperation in education, the Ambassador added.   

 

Asked about Ethiopia’s role to bring lasting peace and stability in Africa, Ambassador Momcilovic, said Ethiopia has played a crucial role in promoting and maintaining peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.    

 

Ethiopia’s involvement in a number of peace keeping operations in and out side Africa shows its commitment to international peace, the Ambassador noted.   

 

Ethiopia has untapped tourism potential that could be utilized as a main source for the economic growth of the country, Ambassador Momcilovic indicated.  

 

The Ambassador finally said Ethiopia is registering remarkable achievements in all sectors through properly implementing its development policies.
